REACH: Resilience & Emergency Action for Coastal Hubs

Project Overview

REACH: Resilience & Emergency Action for Coastal Hubs

Implemented in the disaster-prone regions of Cox’s Bazar and Satkhira, REACH serves as a lifeline for communities on the front lines of global climate change. The project goes beyond short-term relief to build lasting adaptive capacity in some of Bangladesh’s most vulnerable communities.

Rising sea levels, frequent cyclonic storms, and high salinity intrusion increasingly threaten Bangladesh’s coastline. For the people of Cox’s Bazar and Satkhira, climate change isn’t a future threat — it is a daily reality that destroys homes, contaminates drinking water, and wipes out livelihoods.

Vision & Readiness

Our Vision

Project REACH moves beyond temporary relief. Our goal is to create “Resilient Hubs” — empowered communities equipped with the infrastructure, knowledge, and resources to withstand environmental shocks and recover faster.

Emergency Readiness

  • Emergency Response Networks to deploy immediate aid during and after cyclones.
  • Medical supplies & clean water readiness.

Community Capacity

  • Training local youth & volunteers in disaster management.
  • First aid & early warning systems.
Our Strategy

Key Strategic Pillars

01

Emergency Response

Establishing localized response networks that can deploy immediate aid (food, medical supplies, and clean water) during and after cyclones.

02

Climate-Resilient Infrastructure

Implementing sustainable water solutions, such as desalination plants or rainwater harvesting, to combat the acute salinity crisis in Satkhira.

03

Livelihood Adaptation

Providing vocational training and resources for “climate-smart” livelihoods, ensuring families aren’t solely dependent on weather-sensitive traditional farming.

04

Community Capacity

Training local youth and volunteers in disaster management, first aid, and early warning systems to minimize loss of life.

Impact and Beneficiaries

Building Lasting Adaptive Capacity

REACH directly benefits coastal communities in Cox’s Bazar and Satkhira — among the most climate-vulnerable populations in South Asia. By building local resilience infrastructure and adaptive capacity, the project reduces dependence on external aid, strengthens community cohesion, and creates pathways to sustainable livelihoods even in the face of escalating climate risks.
