Focus Area

Human Rights and Advocacy

We promote dignity, inclusion, social cohesion and equitable participation by helping marginalized people understand their rights, access opportunities and make their voices heard.
Focus Area Overview

Advancing Dignity, Inclusion and Equal Participation

Poverty, disability, gender inequality, stigma and limited access to information can prevent people from exercising their rights and participating fully in society.

Songjog Foundation promotes rights awareness, disability inclusion, youth engagement, social cohesion and meaningful community participation. Our initiatives combine advocacy with practical support, accessible information, referrals and partnerships.

We seek to build inclusive communities where marginalized people can access opportunities, make their voices heard and participate in decisions that affect their lives.

Key Challenges

Barriers to Progress

  • Limited awareness of rights: People may not know what assistance, protections or public services are available or how to access them.
  • Disability-related exclusion: Inaccessible technology, communication, transportation, education and employment systems can restrict participation.
  • Gender and economic inequality: Women and marginalized households may face unequal access to income, ownership and decision-making.
  • Social stigma: Stigma associated with disability, mental health, addiction, poverty, age or displacement can prevent people from seeking support.
  • Weak community cohesion: Mistrust, social fragmentation and limited constructive engagement can weaken collective problem-solving.
  • Limited representation: Marginalized people may be underrepresented in decisions about programs, services and policies affecting their lives.
Our Approach

The Songjog Response

  • Rights awareness: We share accessible information about rights, public services, social issues and available support.
  • Community participation: We seek to involve community members in identifying needs, shaping activities and evaluating accessibility.
  • Disability inclusion: Programs combine assistive technology, adapted training, mentorship and career preparation.
  • Youth advocacy: Young people are encouraged to advocate for inclusion, health, environmental responsibility and social harmony.
  • Referral support: We connect people with training, healthcare, rehabilitation, assistive resources and other appropriate services.
  • Partnership and dialogue: We engage communities, civil society, institutions, specialists and private-sector partners.
  • Accountability and learning: We listen to community feedback and improve programs based on evidence and participant experience.
