Understanding Lead Pollution in Bangladesh
Lead poisoning is a silent epidemic in Bangladesh. Contamination from industrial waste, old paint, vehicle emissions, and informal battery recycling exposes millions — especially children — to dangerous blood lead levels that cause irreversible neurological damage, developmental delays, and serious health complications.
Songjog Foundation’s Awareness on Lead Pollution & Its Remedies project directly addresses this crisis by combining community education, health screening advocacy, and behavioral change programs to reduce exposure and improve health outcomes.

Key Strategic Pillars
Community Education
Deliver targeted workshops, seminars, and outreach campaigns in high-risk areas explaining the sources, symptoms, and health impacts of lead poisoning.
Behavioral Change
Encourage practical daily habits that reduce exposure — safer food preparation, proper hygiene, and environmental cleanliness.
Health Screening Advocacy
Promote blood lead level testing, especially for children under 6, and connect families with available medical resources.
Policy Advocacy
Engage local authorities to strengthen regulations on industries that are major sources of lead contamination.
Program Activities
The project directly benefits children, parents, and community health workers in areas identified as high-risk for lead exposure. By increasing awareness and enabling simple protective behaviors, Songjog Foundation aims to reduce preventable lead poisoning cases and contribute to a healthier, more informed Bangladesh.
