The interactive day-long session gathered 45 local youth and recent graduates, alongside four respected community leaders and educators, to explore emerging livelihoods in the healthcare sector.

Organized under Songjog’s broader mission for sustainable economic empowerment, the workshop addressed youth unemployment by presenting caregiving not merely as temporary work, but as a dignified, highly skilled, and vital healthcare profession. Surging Demand for Professional Caregiver Training in Bangladesh

The opening technical session was conducted by SK Al Mukit Antor, Training Coordinator at Songjog Caregiver Center. He presented an in-depth analysis of demographic shifts, aging populations, and the growing demand for qualified care professionals across hospitals, rehabilitation clinics, specialized care homes, and home-care settings.

Participants explored how national accreditation standards, such as those governed by the National Skills Development Authority (NSDA), are creating formal career ladders for certified caregivers. Antor emphasized that mastering practical care techniques, basic clinical support, and communication skills equips youth for rewarding employment opportunities both within Bangladesh and across international healthcare markets.

Practical Responsibilities, Ethics, and Bedside Conduct

Abdus Sobhan, Supervisor at Songjog Care Home, led the practical module focusing on day-to-day operational realities. His session walked participants through the core competencies of professional caregiving, including vital signs monitoring, personal hygiene assistance, mobility support, medication management schedules, nutrition planning, and infection control.

Sobhan placed particular emphasis on patient-care ethics, bedside empathy, mental wellbeing support, and professional conduct. He explained that technical proficiency must always be matched with compassion and respect for patient dignity, which form the cornerstone of quality caregiving.

“Caregiving is a profession rooted in discipline, clinical ethics, and human compassion. By participating in accredited caregiver training in Bangladesh, young individuals acquire practical skills that provide long-term financial independence and deep social respect.”
